Antara: Music

none of the above

(Antara)
April, 2002
A pawn upon which to use, a pawn upon which to abuse, a pawn upon this well lit stage…. upon which I am hostage.

Never will you hostage never will you harness this rage. I am a lion pacing back and forth…in its cage.
You the Zoo to see me as habitable I’m enslaved, freedom is the spaces between the bars I see. And when I put that all together that’s when I’ll be free, free to pounce upon you and expose what you’ve done to me, expose what you’ve done to me, expose – what - you’ve - done…. to me.
In the name of big business and mass-produced art…it’s you your pockets focused with a revolution’s heart. But art is emotion and music is love and freedom is connection and you are none of the above, you are none of the above, you are none of the above.
The physics and the scientific measurement in hertz pokes upon the surface and pries until it hurts. But I won’t return to your lab of music in a vile and calculated spellings and notes for your file. The musical staff – a pawn the corporate empire holds rings for me to jump through…too high to aspire, too high to aspire, too high to aspire.
So I jump through these rings, all for that degree and now I have a hundred that burn inside of me. I jump through these rings, all for that degree and now I have a hundred that burn inside of me, that burn inside of me, that burn inside…of me.

I strum until it hertz I drum until I bleed I journey through the pain then I journey back to me. I strum until it hurts I drum until I bleed I journey through the pain then I journey back to me. I swim infested waters through big business sharks and I hold a whale of wisdom that takes me to my art, it takes me to my art, it takes me to my art, it takes me too…my art.
